Old photo
I love old photographs like this one. Found it online on Serena Fenton's blog - Layers of meaning which I have documented in my delicious site.
Storyboard!
This is my rough plan so far for the minute film. Bit scared about filming but just going to have a go and see what happens!
The plan so far is to have the first 30 seconds being a slow, uninteresting day, mundane and boring...watching daytime telly, sitting around doing nothing, then the second 30 seconds of the film will be a really busy day of me getting ready, going to uni then doing various other things, I will speed up the second half of the video to make it seem really fast and have bright colours and lights, opposed to the first half which will be dull and dark.
Hopefully this is not too ambitious for the timescale which I have! Better get on with it!

Hussein Chalayan
Chalayan thought about the idea of being a refugee, having to flee your home in times of war, so came up with the idea of clothes being turned into furniture. I like this idea of being able to take belongings with you in different forms, and the idea of things having different roles i.e skirt and table!
Bodys Isek Kingelez
Sewing Machine
This is an early example of industrial design for women. The flowers and the detail were added because the men that designed it thought that women would be scared of this machine if there were no feminine familiarities included in it, or that it might be too technological for them! Just like cars, trainers etc nowadays are designed for women with added features.

Eduardo Kac
He had a jellyfish gene inserted into the fertilized egg of an albino rabbit, making it glow fluorescent green in the dark.
“GFP Bunny” has raised ethical questions and created international controversy about whether it should be considered art at all. “Transgenic art brings out a debate on important social issues surrounding genetics that are affecting and will affect everyone’s lives decades to come,” Kac is quoted as saying.
I like this idea of working with scientists to look at the world we live in and the immense scientific knowledge we can gain, I find it really interesting.
I watched a program called Animal Farm which was on a few months ago which has genetically modified chickens so that they wouldn't overheat when they are all packed in together. There are also bulls called Belgian Blues which are a result of selective breeding. The cows and bulls with the greatest muscle mass were only allowed to mate with each other to give the maximum amount of meat. I find it very interesting, but am undecided as to whether I agree with it or not.

Update
Getting used to using blogger now and searching for artists on the internet. Still a bit confused as to whether I can put artists that I am interested in which havent actually done any collaborative work, so just going ahead and doing it anyway...
